Accepts .pdf

Re-saves your PDF to reclaim space from redundant objects. Image quality is unchanged — this is not lossy compression.

How to use this tool

  1. 1.Drop or select a PDF file into the upload area.
  2. 2.HerePDF automatically re-serialises the file — removing redundant objects and unused resources — entirely in your browser.
  3. 3.Download the result. If the tool found savings, the new file will be smaller; otherwise the original structure is preserved.

Frequently asked questions

What does "compress" actually mean here?

HerePDF re-serialises your PDF using pdf-lib, which removes duplicate objects and unused data streams. This is lossless — image quality and text are completely unchanged. It is not the same as lossy image compression tools that degrade photo quality to shrink files.

Why did the tool say "no savings found"?

Your PDF is already well-optimised. PDFs exported from modern tools (Word, Google Docs, Adobe) often have little to gain from re-serialisation.

Can I compress a scanned PDF?

Yes, but scanned PDFs consist almost entirely of images. Since HerePDF does not re-encode images, savings on scan-heavy files are typically minimal.

Is the original file changed?

No. Your original file is read in memory and a new output file is produced. The file on your device is never modified.
