Frequently asked questions
Can I skip a cover page or an inserted photo page?
Yes. Numbering only applies to the page ranges you define — anything outside those ranges gets no number drawn on it, and does not count toward the total. You can define more than one range, so you can skip a page in the middle of the document (not just the start) and numbering continues correctly on the other side of the gap.
What does "Page X of Y" count?
Y is the count of pages you actually numbered, not the document's total physical page count. If you skip a cover page and two inserted photos in a 20-page document, the last numbered page reads "Page 17 of 17" — matching what a reader is actually counting through, not the raw page count of the file.
Can page ranges overlap?
No — unlike Split, where overlapping ranges just produce separate output files, here an overlapping page would need two numbers at once. Overlapping ranges are flagged as an error and block applying until fixed.
Does this change anything else about my PDF?
No. Only the number itself is added, drawn using a standard font in a neutral gray. Everything else about the page — its content, size, and any existing rotation — is untouched.
