Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the Merge tool?

Merge takes whole files and joins them end to end. Organize works at the page level — you can reorder, delete, and duplicate individual pages, and pull pages in from a second PDF and place them anywhere in the document.

Do bookmarks and form fields survive reordering?

No, and it is worth knowing before you start. Bookmarks live in the document outline rather than on the pages themselves, so they are lost. Fillable form fields keep their visual box on the page but stop being fillable, because the reorganized document does not re-register them. Page text, images and rotation are unaffected. If a document depends on its form fields, keep the original.

Can I undo a page deletion?

Yes. Every change is undoable with the Undo button or Ctrl+Z, and redoable with Ctrl+Shift+Z. Your original file on disk is never modified either way — the changes exist only in the browser until you download the result.

How large a PDF can this handle?

It depends on your device, because everything runs in your browser rather than on a server. Thumbnails render progressively, so a long document stays usable while it loads, but very large files use more memory than small ones.
